Title:
SOLAR CELL AND SOLAR CELL UNIT
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2001/048833
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Conventional dye-sensitization solar cell are of a wet type including an electrolyte such as an iodine solution, and therefore the electrolyte must be sealed in the solar cell with a sealant, involving drawbacks such as electrolyte leak when the sealing ruptures. Further if merely a titanium sheet is used, the sunlight absorption area is small, failing to ensure a practical current and voltage. A solar cell according to the invention made of titanium dioxide (TiO¿2?) semiconductor is characterized in that the titanium dioxide is sandwiched between a pair of electrodes and the titanium dioxide semiconductor and at least one of the paired electrodes serve as a rectifying barrier.
