Abstract:
[PROBLEMS] To provide a solid biomass which can be utilized as an alternative fuel for coal coke and also as a material for an article. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A solid biomass which is a solid in a semi-carbonized state or in a state before the semi-carbonized state being formed by heating, pressuring and molding a raw biomass material derived from a photosynthate, has a maximum compression strength of 60 to 200 MPa and a calorific value of 18 to 23 MJ/kg; and a method for producing the above solid biomass, which comprises a step of pulverizing a raw biomass material derived from a photosynthate, a step of packing a tube with the pulverized raw material, a step of equipping the resultant tube containing the raw material with a piston, a step of heating the raw material and simultaneously pressuring and molding the material by the piston, a step of retaining the heating and the pressuring for a time, to prepare a solid in a semi-carbonized state or in a state before the semi-carbonized state, a step of cooling the resultant solid in a semi-carbonized state or in a state before the semi-carbonized state while maintaining the pressuring, and a step of taking out the cooled solid in a semi-carbonized state or in a state before the semi-carbonized state and drying the solid, wherein the inner diameter of the tube and the outer diameter of the piston are almost same.
