Abstract:

The area ratio of a peripheral circuit portion including a capacitance element portion with respect to a pixel array portion is reduced by decreasing the number of capacitance elements on a chip while maintaining a signal with high noise immunity. The present invention comprises: a plurality of unit pixels that have a two-dimensional array; a plurality of transmission lines to which a plurality of pixel groups constituted by the plurality of unit pixels are respectively and commonly connected; and a plurality of switches that switch between conduction with and cutting from each transmission line and two or more other transmission lines. Each of the unit pixels includes a photoelectric conversion element that performs photoelectric conversion on incident light, and a charge-to-voltage conversion element that performs voltage conversion on the photoelectrically converted charge. The noise voltage which is generated when the charge-to-voltage conversion is reset and the sum signal noise voltage obtained by adding the signal charge which is generated by the photoelectric conversion to the noise voltage are respectively output to other different transmission lines connected via the switches to the transmission line to which the pixel group including the unit pixel belongs.
