Abstract:
Because auditory sensitivity varies depending on the attributes of a pedestrian, there have been problems where pedestrians have felt discomfort from artificial running sounds or tend not to realize that a vehicle is approaching. A sound generation device according to the present invention is equipped with: a vehicle surrounding information analysis unit that analyzes vehicle surrounding information and outputs pedestrian information; a pedestrian attribute identification unit that determines a pedestrian attribute, that is, an attribute of a pedestrian, from the pedestrian information output by the vehicle surrounding information analysis unit; a pedestrian risk level identification unit that identifies a pedestrian risk level, that is, a level of risk to the pedestrian, from the pedestrian information output by the vehicle surrounding information analysis unit; a tone determination unit that determines a tone in accordance with the pedestrian attribute identified by the pedestrian attribute identification unit and the pedestrian risk level identified by the pedestrian risk level identification unit; and an output sound changing unit that changes an output sound to be output to the outside of the vehicle to the tone determined by the tone determination unit.
