Abstract:

A soundproof fence capable of providing a satisfactory noise reducing effect over a wide frequency range. Each half-open pipe (2) at a side face of a wall unit (4) produces thereinside a stationary wave which delivers a constant sound-pressure distribution over the entire wall unit (4) side face of the soundproof fence (10). The sound pressure distribution by the stationary wave is continuously produced up to the front face of an upper-end pipe (3). A uniform sound-pressure distribution by the stationary wave at the wall unit (4) side face of the soundproof fence (10) eliminates a sound energy transfer along a side face of the fence (10). The upper-end pipe (3) disposed at the upper end produces thereinside, just as each half-open pipe (2), a stationary wave; and the upper-end pipe (3), being shorter than a half-open pipe (2), can minimize a sound pressure distribution at the front face of the upper end of the fence (10).
