Abstract:
An electronic device according to an exemplary embodiment may: acquire a security rule for supporting split tunneling, wherein the security rule includes a plurality of records for determining whether to bypass a VPN tunnel; check a performance condition of a first operation related to bypassing the VPN tunnel by comparing information based on a first offset in a first element of a packet with a first value on the basis of a first record included in the security rule; when the performance condition of the first operation is satisfied and the first operation indicates a second record included in the security rule, check a performance condition of a second operation related to bypassing the VPN tunnel by comparing information based on a second offset in a second element of the packet with a second value on the basis of the second record; when the performance condition of the first operation or the second operation is satisfied and the first operation or the second operation indicates bypassing the VPN tunnel, transmit the packet to a packet forwarding server by encapsulating the packet without including same in the VPN tunnel; and when the performance condition of the first operation or the second operation is not satisfied, transmit the packet to the packet forwarding server by including the same in the VPN tunnel. Various other embodiments are possible.
