Abstract:

Disclosed is a stain-proof coating composition comprising (A) a hydrolyzable copolymer and (B) a stain-proofing agent. In the composition, the component (A) is at least one hydrolyzable copolymer selected from the group consisting of the following components (a1) to (a3): (a1) an acrylic polymer or polyester resin which is a copolymer containing a metal salt bond having a side chain terminal group represented by the formula (I): -COO-M-O-COR1 [wherein M represents Zn or Cu, and R1 represents an organic group]; (a2) a copolymer containing a metal salt bond which is composed of (a21) a monomeric component unit represented by the formula (II): CH2=C(R2)-COO-M-O-CO-C(R2)=CH [wherein M is as defined above, and R2 represents H or CH3] and (a22) other unsaturated monomeric component unit capable of being copolymerized with the monomer (I); and (a3) a silyl ester copolymer which is composed of (a31) a monomeric component unit represented by the formula (III): R7-CH=C(R3)-COO-SiR4R5R6 [wherein R3 is as defined for R2, R4 to R6 independently represent a hydrocarbon group, and R7 represents H or a group R8-O-CO- (where R8 represents an organic group or a group -SiR9R10R11 (where R9 to R11 independently represent a hydrocarbon group)] and (a32) other unsaturated monomeric component unit capable of being copolymerized with the monomer (III), and the stain-proofing agent (B) is zinc sulfide and is contained in an amount of 10 to 500 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the component (A). The stain-proof coating composition shows a low environmental load and a good stain-proofing property against alga.
