Abstract:
The present invention relates to a stainless steel for a fuel cell separator and a method of manufacturing same and, specifically, to a stainless steel having low contact resistance as a material for a fuel cell separator, a definition and provision of surface roughness parameters that can represent the surface shape of the stainless steel, and a method of manufacturing the stainless steel. Specifically, the present invention relates to a stainless steel having excellent contact resistance for a fuel cell separator and a method of manufacturing same, the stainless steel comprising, in wt%, C: 0 (exclusive) to 0.02%, N: 0 (exclusive) to 0.02%, Si: 0 (exclusive) to 0.4%, Mn: 0 (exclusive) to 0.3%, P: 0 (exclusive) to 0.04%, S: 0 (exclusive) to 0.02%, Cr: 15 to 34%, Cu: 0 (exclusive) to 1%, Ni: 0 (exclusive) to 0.4% (exclusive), one or more of Ti and Nb with the composition ratio of elements included being 0 (exclusive) to 0.5%, and the balance being Fe and other unavoidable impurities, wherein at least one surface of the stainless steel has a three-dimensional arithmetic mean roughness (Sa) of 0.05㎛ or more and a developed interfacial area ratio (Sdr) of 5% or more.
