A lockup clutch mechanism (8) of a hydraulic power transmission device (1) includes: a lockup piston (80) that can move toward a front cover (3) and press against first and second friction plates (83, 84); and a flange member (85) that defines an engagement-side oil chamber (87) together with the lockup piston (80). The front cover (3) and the lockup piston (80) define a first lubricating-oil passage (88) for supplying an operating oil to the first and second friction plates (83, 84). A second lubricating-oil passage (30b) that is in communication with the first lubricating-oil passage (88) is formed in the center piece (30) of the front cover (3). A first inner-shaft oil passage (101) that is in communication with the engagement-side oil chamber (87) and a second inner-shaft oil passage (102) that is in communication with the second lubricating-oil passage (30b) are formed inside an input shaft (100).
