Abstract:
A steel sheet for a large structure according to the present invention is a steel sheet for a large structure having a film of a primary rust-proofing paint containing a silicate type binder and zinc powder as a rust-proofing pigment formed on the surface thereof, a mean dry film thickness of the film is 3 to 10 'mu'm, and a variance index of the film thickness is not greater than 0.18. An application method of a primary rust-proofing paint according to the present invention can form a thin homogeneous film allowing high speed fillet welding at a rate exceeding 100 cm/min on the surface of a steel sheet for a large structure by causing an inorganic zinc primary rust-proofing paint to exhibit its excellent rust-proofing property to maximum. A coated steel sheet for a large structure according to the present invention is produced by forming a powder paint film on the thin homogeneous film of the primary rust-proofing paint formed on the surface on the steel sheet for a large structure. This coated steel sheet can prevent the occurrence of air bubbles inside the powder paint film at the time of baking of the powder paint film, the occurrence of pin-holes on the surface of the powder paint film and cohesive failure of the inorganic zinc primary rust-proofing paint in a coating layer at the time of curing of the powder paint film, that have been the problems in the past, by fully displaying excellent rust-proofing property of the inorganic zinc primary rust-proofing paint. Therefore, the coated steel sheet is excellent in rust-proofness and productivity.
