Abstract:
Provided is a steer-by-wire type steering device having a compact structure, wherein a toe angle adjustment motor can be diverted for use as a driving source for steering in the event of failure of a steering motor, and a toe angle adjustment mechanism is immobilized for safe travel in the event of failure of the toe angle adjustment motor. The steer-by-wire type steering device is provided with a steering motor (6), a steering force transmission mechanism (18) which transmits the rotation of the steering motor (6) to a steering shaft (10), a toe angle adjustment motor (7), and a toe angle adjustment force transmission mechanism (30) which adjusts the toe angle in accordance with the rotation of the toe angle adjustment motor (7). A switching mechanism (17) is provided by which when the steering motor (6) fails, in place of the steering motor (6), the rotation of the toe angle adjustment motor (7) is transmitted to the steering force transmission mechanism (18) so as to perform steering, and when the toe angle adjustment motor (7) fails, steering is performed only by the steering motor (6). A hollow motor is used for one or both of the steering motor (6) and the toe angle adjustment motor (7).
