Abstract:
In a method for controlling steering of a vehicle provided with a steer-by-wire-type steering mechanism in which a steering wheel (31a) and turning wheels (34FL, 34FR) are mechanically separated, a steering reaction force including a restoring component for returning the steering angle of the steering wheel to a reference angle, a viscous component corresponding to the steering angular velocity of the steering wheel, and a frictional component corresponding to the steering angular velocity is generated by an actuator and imparted to the steering wheel (S9), the steering reaction force is controlled so that the steering angle attains a target steering angle for causing the vehicle to travel along a target travel trajectory (S1, S5), the turning angle of the turning wheels is controlled in accordance with the steering angle (S11), a determination is made as to whether the driver has operated the steering wheel (S2), and when the driver does not operate the steering wheel, the frictional component included in the steering reaction force is suppressed (S6-S9).
