Abstract:
Provided is a steering lock device which can move a lock bar by means of a solenoid and prevent overheat of the solenoid by avoiding continuous conduction for a coil even when locking of the lock bar for steering fails. The steering lock device comprises: an urging member 17 which holds a lock bar R in a projecting state; self-holding solenoid S which has a plunger P that can be displaced by a magnetic force generated by the conduction of a coil C and a magnetic force of permanent magnets (Ma, Mb), and holds the lock bar R in a recessed state by means of the magnetic force of the permanent magnets (Ma, Mb) in a state where the plunger P is connected with the lock bar R; and a detection means 12 which detects the position of the lock bar R, wherein the coil C is conducted and the plunger P is suctioned, and when the lock bar R in the detection means 12 is detected to be at a position at which the lock bar R is in a projecting state, the coil C is repetitively conducted for a prescribed number of times.
