Abstract:
A steering wheel for an automobile, for example, comprises a rim,spokes and a boss. The rim is composed of a core of a lightweight shape-retaining material with a plastic layer arranged over the outer periphery of the core, the plastic layer being reinforced by unidirectional reinforcing fibers. The spoke is made of a metallic material. One end of the spoke is secured to the boss which ismade of the same metallic material, while the other end is secured to the rim through the reinforced plastic layer.
