Abstract:
A stent is provided that is extremely useful and that exhibits excellent proof stress (elasticity limit stress) in practical use. The stent (1) is formed into a cylinder that can be expanded in a radial direction when placed into the lumen of a living body, and comprises a primary stent component (2) formed on a virtual cylindrical surface, the primary stent element (2) being manufactured from an alloy having a proof stress of 500 - 2,700 Mp. Alternatively, the primary stent element (2) is manufactured from an alloy containing at least one among gold, silver, copper, nickel, cobalt, or palladium, said alloy being an electroformed alloy having a cyclic fatigue strength of 1.5 times or more of a nickel material, or a nickel / cobalt alloy material. Therefore, the stent (1) can expand easily and uniformly in a radial direction, and is not easily squashed in the radial direction after expansion.
