Abstract:
The purpose of the invention is to provide a stereo camera device that is able to detect objects to be recognized with better precision even when those objects are far away or are in close proximity to each other. The stereo camera device includes: a first imaging unit; a second imaging unit; an object region identification processing unit for identifying an object-containing region and the type of object on the basis of a first image acquired from the first imaging unit; a distance calculation processing unit for calculating the distance to the object on the basis of an image of the object-containing region from the object region identification processing unit and a second image acquired from the second imaging unit; a feature calculation processing unit for calculating feature values of the object in real space on the basis of the distance calculated by the distance calculation processing unit and the object-containing region identified by the object region identification processing unit; and an object feature verification processing unit for verifying the type of object identified by the object region identification processing unit on the basis of the feature values calculated by the feature calculation processing unit.
