Abstract:
A stereoscopic video reproduction device which can create and record a stereoscopic video file comprises, as auxiliary information for a stereoscopic video, information that is required to adjust the amount of parallax in the stereoscopic video so as to enable binocular fusion regardless of the screen size of a stereoscopic display. Feature points are extracted from left and right viewpoint images (step S12), and the amount of parallax at each feature point is calculated (step S13). At least the maximum amount of parallax at a distance is acquired from the amount of parallax calculated at each feature point (step S14). The greatest GOP parallax maximum amount from among the maximum amounts of parallax in one GOP is acquired, and based on the GOP parallax maximum amount acquired, the GOP maximum display size capable of binocular fusion when a stereoscopic image produced by the left and right viewpoint images is displayed on the stereoscopic display is acquired (step S16). Together with a stereoscopic video, the acquired GOP maximum display size and the GOP parallax maximum amount are recorded as auxiliary information in a 3D video file (step S17).
