Abstract:
This stiffness-variable device includes a helically-shaped coil part obtained by winding a plurality of SMA wires made from a shape-memory alloy around a shaft at a first pitch in such a manner as to cause the wires to overlap each other in a prescribed axial direction, wherein each of the SMA wires comprises: at least one coil unit which remembers a helical shape having a narrower pitch than the first pitch and which tries to transform into the remembered shape at a prescribed temperature or higher; and a heating part for heating the coil part.
