Abstract:
Provided is a stopping assist device that assists in stopping a vehicle at a predetermined stopping position more correctly. This stopping assist device comprises: a sensor group for defining a prescribed stopping area to stop a vehicle, and a tire detecting area where a tire can be detected when the vehicle is stopped in the stopping area; a notification means for notifying a user of a stopping position of the vehicle on the basis of information from the sensor group when the tire of the vehicle enters the tire detecting area; and a control unit for controlling the sensor group and the notification means. The sensor group comprises three or more sensors each having different detection areas in a longitudinal direction, and is configured such that three or more sensors of the three or more sensors do not react at the same time. When two adjacent sensors of the sensor group detect the tire at the same time, the control unit determines that the vehicle is located in the stopping area, and notifies the user of a vehicle stopping instruction via the notification means.
