[00184] EXAMPLES

[00185] Example 1

[00186] An exemplary storage bag formed from multilayer film 1 in accordance with certain aspects of the present disclosure was made by a 7-layer co-extrusion, blown process with a diameter of 14 ft and a gauge of 6.5-9.5 mil. Multilayer film 1 comprises polystyrene (PS) in 3 layers. The percentages by weight of the components of multilayer film 1 are shown in Table 1. Total PS content of the film is 7%.

[00187] Table 1. Composition of multilayer film 1.

[00188] Example 1A

[00189] An exemplary storage bag formed from multilayer film 1A in accordance with certain aspects of the present disclosure was made by a 7-layer co-extrusion, blown process with a gauge of about 9 mil ± about 20%. The percentages by weight of the components of multilayer film 1A are shown in Table 2. Multilayer film 1A comprises polystyrene (PS) in 2 layers. Total PS content of the film is 2.8%. The properties of multilayer film 1A are shown in Table 3.

[00191] Table 3. Properties of multilayer film 1A.

[00192] Example 2: TD Creep Resistance Test

[00193] An exemplary custom-designed creep-resistance test was developed to determine the creep-resistance of the storage bag formed from multilayer film 1A in accordance with certain aspects of the present disclosure. For comparison, a 1 cm wide sample was taken from both a comparative polyethylene-only bag that does not include polystyrene, and the storage bag formed from multilayer film 1A, both oriented in the TD (Transverse Direction). The test is done in a heated oven at 60 °C for 24 hours using a 1 kg weight on a 1 cm wide and 10 cm long film sample. The length of the film is measured at 0 hours and 24 hours twice to calculate the percent stretch (%) when the weight is on.

[00194] The comparative polyethylene-only bag exhibited significant stretching during the creep-resistance test, reaching up to 115% of its original length. In contrast, the bag formed from multilayer film 1A comprising the polystyrene demonstrated superior performance, with stretching consistently measuring less than 110% under the same test conditions.
