Abstract:
In order to provide a storage system capable of preventing data loss in the event of an external power supply failure, such as power outage, when data from a host computer or a system drive is stored in a volatile memory of the storage system, it is determined whether, on the basis of the charge capacity of a battery which is an internal power supply and the volume of data in the volatile memory that has not been saved in a non-volatile memory (un-backed-up data), a data volume for the write can be saved from the volatile memory to the non-volatile memory. If it is determined that the save is possible, a region for the write data volume is ensured in the volatile memory and the data is written to the region. If it is determined that the save is not possible, the data write is suppressed.
