Abstract:
Provided is a subcritical water treatment method in which organic waste and sludge are decomposed in a large-sized pressure vessel using a low amount of energy consumption. In this subcritical water treatment method: high-temperature, high-pressure steam is supplied into a pressure vessel; an object to be treated in the pressure vessel, said object comprising organic waste or sludge, is stirred while being heated and pressurized; a sudden increase in the temperature and/or pressure inside the pressure vessel is detected with the temperature inside the pressure vessel at 150 °C or above; after this detection, the amount of supplied steam is adjusted such that the temperature inside the pressure vessel is maintained for 5-10 minutes at or above the temperature at the time when the sudden increase started; and subsequently, the supply of steam is stopped.
