Abstract:
The present invention discloses a substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) horn antenna. On the basis of the prior art, an upper metal plate and a lower metal plate are designed with isosceles-trapezoid (horn) structures that are identical in size and shape. A set of open-circuit microstrip lines that are parallel to two bases and approximately 1/4 wavelength in length are disposed on outer sides of two legs to form two sets of patterns. In this way, grounding through holes on a sidewall of a conventional SIW antenna are replaced by open-circuit microstrip lines that are approximately 1/4 wavelength in length. Therefore, processing errors are reduced, device consistency and yield are improved, and processing complexity is reduced, making it possible to apply the SIW horn antenna to a millimeter wave frequency band. Furthermore, equivalent dielectric constants of areas on two sides of the SIW horn antenna gradually decrease to form a fast-wave region, and transmission phases of quasi-TE mode electromagnetic waves are adjusted to remain matched at a radiation end of the horn antenna, thereby achieving the features of increasing an antenna gain, expanding an operating bandwidth, reducing the number of antenna beams, and increasing radiation efficiency.
