Abstract:
A subtractive color mixing electrophoresis type display device and manufacturing method thereof. The display device comprises: a pixel array having a plurality of pixel units; a first substrate (1) and a second substrate (2) disposed opposite to each other; at least three common electrodes formed on a lower surface of the first substrate (1); a display electrode array formed on the upper surface of the second substrate (2); and driving electrodes of the respective pixel units are constituted by the respective display electrodes (3) and the at least three common electrodes, respectively. Each of the pixel units comprises: a microcup layer disposed between the display electrode (3) and the common electrode, the microcup layer comprising at least one microcup structure (7), when there are a plurality of microcup structures (7), a plurality of microcup structures (7) are formed by microcup walls (8); a display medium disposed in the microcup structure (7), the display medium comprising electrophoretic liquid (9) and charged particles dispersed in the electrophoretic liquid (9). The device can achieve colored display of a variety of colors with high brightness, improve the refresh rate, and ensure the stability of the display and high brightness color reproduction.
