Abstract:
A sulfide compound represented by formula [1] (wherein R?1¿ and R?2¿ each represents halogeno or C¿1-4? alkyl; and R?3¿ to R?7¿ each represents hydrogen or C¿1-4? alkyl, provided that R?5¿ and R?6¿ may be and R?6¿ and R?7¿ may be bonded to each other to form a three- to seven-membered hydrocarbon ring). The compound is useful as a material for producing a 6-acetylthiochroman derivative or 5-acetyldihydrobenz[b]thiophene derivative and for producing a thiochroman-6-carboxylic acid derivative or dihydrobenz[b]thiphene-5-carboxylic acid derivative. Also provided are industrially advantageous processes for producing the two carboxylic acid derivatives. These processes impose a reduced load on the environment.
