SUN PROTECTOR FOR VEHICLE WINDSHIELD
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2008/041192
Kind Code:
A2
Abstract:
"Sun Protector For Vehicle Windshield" including one or more curtains (2), of retractable roll type, using a spring system for easy rolling. The curtains (2) are placed side by side on the windshield base, within the panel or on top of the panel within a tubular housing (1 ) with an opening in the upper part for allowing entrance and exit of the curtains. The assembly formed by the curtains shall have, when open, a wide base, a narrow upper part and two sloped sides, following the same shape of the windshield and sealing the same almost completely. The curtains placed on the windshield base have handles (3) on the outer part of the assembly for puling them and fixing them with hooks (12) or other means installed above the windshield. On the upper part of the curtain assembly, right in the middle, is a small opening (11 ) for passing the rear mirror arm. The movement of the said "Sun Protector For Vehicle Windshield" may be automatic following the same principle as above described.

[1] CLAIMS

'SUN PROTECTOR FOR VEHICLE WINDSHIELD' characterized by a set of one or more curtains (2), retractable roll type, using spring system or other system to facilitate rolling the same after use. These curtains are manufactured in strong and flexible material such as plastic, paper, fabric or others, 'SUN PROTECTOR FOR VEHICLE WINDSHIELD' characterized by being inserted into the vehicle panel, in front of the driver, or placed over the same, inside a tubular housing (1) partially open on the upper part to allow the entrance and exit of the curtain. The tubular housing shall be fixed to the panel. The said 'SUN PROTECTOR FOR VEHICLE WINDSHIELD' characterized by having automatic, electric or manual operation, always according to the same principles described herein.

'SUN PROTECTOR FOR VEHICLE WINDSHIELD' characterized by having at the upper curtain ends, an element in rigid material with one or more handles (3) used to open these curtains upwards as well as fixing them over the windshield with some parts (12) of hook type or other attachment means installed therein. 'SUN PROTECTOR FOR VEHICLE WINDSHIELD' characterized by having, when the curtain(s) is (are) open, a base of the same size as the windshield base, an upper part equal to the highest part of the windshield and two side parts with beveled cutting, following the same shape of the windshield, so that the assembly, when open, provides almost complete sealing of the same. SUN PROTECTOR FOR VEHICLE WINDSHIELD 1 characterized by having, on both ends of the tubular housing, two terminals (4) used to close the assembly and also used as support for the cylindrical metal shaft on which the retractable curtain assembly runs.

SUN PROTECTOR FOR VEHICLE WINDSHIELD 1 characterized by having a washer type part (5) with a middle hole for passing the metal shaft (9). This washer is fixed between two curtains and is used to facilitate the separate movement of each curtain and is also used as a support for the said cylindrical metal shaft maintaining the same in a straight line.

SUN PROTECTOR FOR VEHICLE WINDSHIELD 1 characterized by having, on the upper central part of the assembly, a small opening (11) for passing the rear mirror arm.

Description

SUN PROTECTOR FOR VEHICLE WINDSHIELD Technical Field

[I] This descriptive report refers to an invention patent application for a 'SUN PROTECTOR FOR VEHICLE WINDSHIELD' with the purpose of complete windshield sealing.

[2] The device in question is used to solve the problem of superheating of the inner front part and particularly the panel, hand wheel and front seats of parked vehicles exposed to sun rays.

[3] All the curtain type devices known until now provide partial sealing for the windshield due to the irregular shape of the glass and the rear mirror attached to same or over the same that does not allow passing a wider conventional curtain.

[4] The windshield shape on most vehicles is wider on the lower part and narrower on the upper part forming a trapeze and, for this reason, every curtain with rectangular shape when open leaves part of the glass without protection.

[5] The other protectors are uncomfortable, while putting them in use at each moment and removing them afterwards.

[6] Another inconvenience of the traditional curtains, is the use, on most part of them, of vacuum devices for attaching the curtain to the glass, this attachment is not very reliable, since the vacuum devices loosen from the glass very often.

[7] The device in question consists of one or more retractable roll type curtains, installed side by side on the windshield base, they may be inserted into the panel or placed over the same, within a tubular housing partially open on the upper part in order to allow the entrance and exit of the curtains, this tubular housing shall be fixed over the panel.

[8] These curtains have, at the upper ends, a rigid element such as metal, plastic or other to keep them well stretched. This rigid element has one or more handles used to open these curtains upwards and also to attach them to the upper part of the windshield or above the same with hook type parts or other parts installed therein.

[9] The assembly formed by one, two or more curtains, shall present, when open, a base width equal to the windshield base and a narrower upper part. The two sides shall have a beveled cutting following the windshield shape so that the assembly in question presents a trapeze equal to the windshield thus providing almost total sealing for the same.

[10] On the upper central part of the curtain assembly is provided an appropriate opening for passing the rear mirror arm.

[I I] We recommend using an assembly of two curtains, one sealing in front of the driver and another one in front of the passenger, since a single part will be to big to open and

close when the movement is not automatic.

[12] The drawings attached to this report present the following:

[13] Fig. 1 - presents a front view of the 1 SUN PROTECTOR FOR VEHICLE

WINDSHIELD 1 with two curtains housed within a round tube.

[14] Fig. 2 - presents a vertical section A-A of Fig. 1.

[15] Fig. 3 - presents a horizontal section b-b of Fig. 1.

[16] Fig. 4 - presents an outer view of the curtains opened on the vehicle windshield.

[17] Fig. 5 - presents an inner view of the curtains opened on the vehicle windshield.

[18] As presented by the above mentioned figures, the 1 SUN PROTECTOR FOR

VEHICLE WINDSHIELD 1 consists of a tubular housing (1) in semi-rigid material, opened on the upper part to allow the exit and entrance of the retractable curtains (2) whose handles (3) are always out of the tube.

[19] On both ends of the said tube are provided two terminals (4) that are used to close the tube and also as support for a cylindrical metal shaft (9) on which roll the curtain assembly.

[20] The inner part of the SUN PROTECTOR FOR VEHICLE WINDSHIELD 1 , as shown in Fig. 3, consists of a cylindrical metal shaft (9) on which are turning the model sheaves (6) having, on part of the same, on the inner side, a connection for the spring (10) whose other end is attached by means of a part (8) to the metal shaft (1). Each curtain (2) is rolled on tube (7) after attaching its initial part on this tube. Each tube has, on both ends, a sheave (6); one of the same with a spring (10). Each curtain is separated from the other by means of a washer type fixed part (5) Fig. 1, this washer is used to facilitate the separate movement of each curtain. The said round washer has a hole in the middle, used for passing the metal shaft and also for maintaining the same on a straight line.

[21] Fig. 4 presents an assembly consisting of two curtains sealing the windshield of a vehicle and as we can also notice, an opening (11) for passing the rear mirror arm.

[22] Fig. 5 presents, inside the vehicle, right above the windshield, two hook type parts

(12) for attaching the curtains handles (3) when the same are raised up. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
