Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a superconducting coil protection method capable of preventing a damage of a superconducting coil due to, for example, a quench by a new method in which voltage induced in the superconducting coil (voltage change) is not used. The protection method is used for a superconducting coil formed by winding a tape-shaped superconducting wire having a superconducting layer. The output of an excitation power supply is cut off on the basis of the magnitude of a shielding magnetic field that is the difference between a measured magnetic field (B) in the thickness direction of the superconducting wire at a predetermined position and a magnetic field (Bcal) in the thickness direction of the superconducting wire, calculated by neglecting shielding current.
