FIELD OF APPLICATION

The present invention relates to a support system for railings of existing or newly built balconies , the characteristic of which is given by the type of realisation through superimposition .

More particularly, it is a solution that allows the realisation or renewal of the railings of newly built or existing balconies based on the interpenetration of a beam, fixed on the front plates or resting on the end edge of a floor of a balcony, and a counter-beam with a customisable profile in which to fix the vertical components of the railing freely, both as regards the shapes but also the use of the materials to be used .

The solution according to the present invention provides the possibility of realising new railings on newly built buildings by applying a particularly shaped beam fixed on the front plates or resting on the end edge of the floor of a balcony, or of dismantling existing railings up to the front plates of the floor and applying the same shaped beam .

The system there fore makes it possible to combine di f ferent types of railing with a shaped base counterbeam, up to the installation of planters integrated with the railing itsel f .

The present invention is advantageously applied in the building sector and in particular in that of balconies of buildings or other similar structures provided with railing .

PRIOR ART

It is known that the balconies of buildings are equipped with a banister or railing which represents a protective element in order to prevent people or obj ects from falling into the void, especially in cases where there are di f ferences in level between di f ferent floors .

It is also known that the balcony protective elements are applied using special supports designed with care having characteristics of resistance to loads and bad weather .

The assemblies of the protective elements to the balcony supports can be of di f ferent types depending on the aesthetic ef fect to be achieved and also with respect to the construction requirements .

For example , a railing can be made up of glass sheets or banisters fixed to a support resting on the floor or fixed on the side or embedded in a casting of the balcony .

For this reason, depending on the construction methods , many di f ferent supports are known and used today and this means that the operators must pay particular attention in choosing the most appropriate ones so as not to purchase supports that are not suitable for the type of assembly desired .

Furthermore , i f in the same construction site of a building there are di f ferent assemblies of balcony railings , it is necessary to pay particular attention to the choice of the types of supports to be purchased and to the quantity thereof , as well .

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The present invention aims to provide a single type of support suitable for the various assemblies , so as to simpli fy the situation and obtain a condition capable of eliminating or at least reducing the drawbacks highlighted above .

The invention aims in particular to provide a support for railings of balconies , the characteristic of which is given by the combination of a shaped base counter-beam to be connected to a previously installed beam, with respect to which all possible types of railing to be made in steel , wood, or with solid panels also in glass or other material can be fixed .

Another obj ect of the invention is to realise a support for railings of balconies by means of a system that allows to guarantee the check of the thrusts required by the standard, through a linear redistribution of the loads along the beam and respective base counter-beam, while preserving however the shape and materials of the original railings .

This is achieved by means of a support system for railings of balconies that can be used in the renovation of existing buildings , once the stability and integrity of the existing floor has been veri fied .

The invention therefore relates to a support system for railings of existing or newly built balconies , the characteristics of which are described in the main claim . The dependent claims of the present solution outline advantageous embodiments of the invention .

Basically, the support system for the railings of balconies according to the invention provides for combining di f ferent types of railing with a shaped base counter-beam, up to the installation of planters integrated with the railing itsel f .

Figures 5 to 8 show schematic views relating to an embodiment in which the support system according to the invention is combined with plate railings associated with suitably arranged planters .

DESCRIPTION OF AN EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION

With reference to the accompanying figures , and initially in particular to figures 1 and 2 , 10 generally indicates the proj ecting front portion of the floor of a balcony, which comprises a front face , or front plate , on which the fixing system according to the invention for the application of a railing 11 , which, in this case , is of the type with vertical uprights , is applied .

More particularly, according to the embodiment represented in Figures 1 , 2 and 2a, the fixing system according to the invention comprises a beam 12 of the tubular type with a substantially quadrilateral section whose upper side is opened by a slot 13 which extends longitudinally throughout the length of the beam, as better represented in figure 2a .

The beam 12 is fixed to the front plate, or alternatively resting on the end part of the floor 10 by using fixing means typically of the screw type or the like , arranged with an axis parallel with respect to the walking surface of the floor of the balcony 10 , or in an orthogonal direction in the case in which the beam is resting, or by means of another more suitable system according to the needs and so that the slot 13 remains facing upwards in order to be able to accommodate a respective counter-beam indicated with 14 in the figures .

According to a further embodiment , it is provided that the beam 12 , instead of being fixed on the front plate being thus arranged at the same level as the front plate itsel f , can be f ixed above the end edge of the walking surface of the floor of the balcony 10 .

In this case the beam would rest on the end of the hori zontal surface of the floor, and the screw fixing means or the like would be inserted vertically, locking the base of the beam 12 on the same end .

Said counter-beam 14 is represented by a hol low quadrilateral profile having one of the four sides open, that is the one facing downwards , in such a way as to form two vertical parallel wings , at least one of which, that is the one facing the front plate of the slab 10 , can be introduced in the slot 13 of the beam 12 , fixing itsel f therein .

In this case the two parallel wings forming the counter-beam 14 are arranged astride the portion facing the outside of the beam 12 itsel f .

The counter-beam 14 can also be associated with provisional railings , which will be removed when the definitive railing is installed, or with definitive railings 11 .

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the final railing 11 is composed of a counter-beam 14 which fits into the structural one 12 previously fixed to the floor 10 and of a series of uprights 15 ( figures 1 , 2 ) or crosspieces 16 ( figures 3 and 4 ) which can freely compose the railing 11 .

It is envisaged that both the uprights 15 and the crosspieces 16 are provided in the upper part with a closing and resting tube 17 which represents the finish thereof .

The lower portions of the railings 11 are fixed to the outer face 18 of the counter-beam 14 by screwing means or by welding or other more suitable system according to the needs .

According to a further embodiment represented in figures 5 to 8 , with a similar system with respect to the one described above , a counter-beam 20 suitably shaped to accommodate planters that can be integrated in the new railing is provided to be combined with the beam 12 .

In this case the counter-beam 20 is associated with a shel f 21 on which the frame 22 o f a planter can be fixed, which planter remains comprised between two finish shaped panels 23 and 24 .

According to this embodiment , the use of flat vertical panels 25 , for example made of glass or other transparent material or the like , is also provided, which panels are integrated in the planter giving it a pleasant aesthetic ef fect .

According to the embodiment shown in figures 7 and 8 , the counter-beam 20 has a single wing which enters the groove of the beam 12 , while the second wing is replaced by a shaped recess of the outer finish panel 24 .

The railings can be made in the factory, without worrying about coordinating with the activities of the construction site for their clamping to the load-bearing structures .

In the case of application of the railing according to the invention on existing buildings where there is the need to adapt the railings to the load thrusts imposed by the regulations , it is possible to replicate the design of the existing railing to be fixed to the shaped counterbeam 14 and fitted into the one previously installed on the head of the existing balcony .

In fact , often the sections and the pitch of the uprights of the old railings are not suitable to withstand the thrusts required by the regulations in force .

The invention has been described in the foregoing with reference to a preferential embodiment thereof . However, it is clear that the invention is susceptible to numerous variants which fall within the scope thereof , and which are technically equivalent .
