Abstract:
Provided is a supported metal catalyst of superior efficiency of utilizing active metal particles. The present invention provides a supported metal catalyst comprising a carrier constituted by an aggregate of electroconductive particles, and active metal particles dispersed on and supported by the electroconductive particles. The electroconductive particles comprise a plurality of pores. The pores have an average pore entrance diameter of 1–20 nm. The standard deviation of the average pore entrance diameter is 50% or less of the average pore entrance diameter. The percentage of the active metal particles that are supported on superficial regions of the electroconductive particles is 50% or greater. The superficial regions are regions on the surfaces of the electroconductive particles, or regions within the pores at depths of up to 15 nm from said surfaces.
