Abstract:
This surface-coated cutting tool has a tool base body, a lower layer, and an upper layer, wherein the lower layer includes a W layer, a metal carbide layer, and a metal carbon nitride layer, the W layer is formed extending from the surface of the tool base body to a depth of 10-500 nm, the metal carbide layer contains any one of Ti, Cr, Zr, Hf, Nb, and Ta, and has an average layer thickness of 5-500 nm, the metal carbon nitride layer contains a metal contained in the metal carbide layer, and has an average layer thickness of 5-300 nm, the upper layer has a structure in which A-layers and B-layers are alternately layered, and has a total average layer thickness of 1.0-8.0 μm, the A-layers have an average single-layer thickness of 0.1-5.0 μm, and have an average composition represented by (AlxCr1-x)N (0.40≤x≤0.80), and the B-layers have an average single-layer thickness of 0.1-5.0 μm, and have an average composition represented by (Al1-a-b-c-dTiaCrbSicYd)N (0≤a≤0.40, 0.05≤b≤0.40, 0≤c≤0.20, and 0.01≤d≤0.10).
