Abstract:
The present invention provides a surface-coated cutting tool that has a hard coating layer measuring 1.0-20.0 μm in average layer thickness, in which a composite nitride layer is represented by (Ti(1 - x)Alx)N (0.60 ≤ x ≤ 0.95) and has: a layer comprising at least 30% NaCl-type crystal grains of a face-centered cubic structure in which the angle formed between a normal to the {111} plane and a normal to a surface of a tool substrate is 10° or less; and a layer that is continuously provided from an edge ridge (3) toward a flank surface (1)/rake surface (2) between a point that is never more than 50 μm from the edge ridge (3) and a most-distant point at 100-500 μm, and that, in a region of at least 50 μm within 50-500 μm extending from the edge ridge (3) in the direction heading away from the flank surface (1)/rake surface (2) starting from the most-distant point, is at least 30% NaCl-type crystal grains of a face-centered cubic structure in which the angle formed between a normal to the {100} plane and a normal to the surface of the tool substrate is 10° or less.
