Abstract:
Disclosed is a surface-covered cermet member that can improve oxidation resistance while maintaining high performance of a titanium-type sintered compact. The surface-covered cermet member comprises an oxidation-resistant film (12) provided on a cermet base material (11) formed of a sintered compact having a hard phase composed mainly of one or more titanium compounds selected from titanium carbide, titanium nitride, and titanium carbonitride. In the surface-covered cermet member, the oxidation-resistant film (12) is formed of a composite oxide containing titanium.
