Abstract:
Provided are: a surface-modified nanodiamond that exhibits ease of dispersion in an organic solvent; an organic solvent dispersion of the surface-modified nanodiamond; and a method for producing the surface-modified nanodiamond. This surface-modified nanodiamond has on the surface of the nanodiamond a structure in which groups represented by formula (1) are linked. -NHCOR (1) (In formula (1), R is an organic group having a carbon atom at a linkage site to an adjacent carbonyl carbon atom shown in the formula. The left end of the group represented by formula (1) is linked to the nanodiamond.) The nanodiamond is preferably a detonation nanodiamond or a high-pressure/high-temperature nanodiamond.
