Abstract:

Surface-modified silica powder, wherein silica powder has been surface treated using one, two or more compounds (A) and aminosilane (B), is characterized in that the immobilization rate of compound (A) and aminosilane (B) is a total of 50% or greater, the hydrophobic percentage is 80% or greater, and the frictional charge is 200 µC/g or less by absolute value. When used as an external additive, the surface-modified silica powder of this invention is capable of stabilizing many properties, including fluidity and electrostatic properties, and greatly improving the problems of fogging and a reduction in the image, without greatly reducing properties of the developer, and the like.
