Abstract:
The present invention relates to a surfactant composition that contains an alkyl hydroxy ether acetic acid (salt) (A) represented by general formula (1) and an alkyl hydroxy ether acetic acid (salt) (B) represented by general formula (2) in which the total weight ratio of the alkyl hydroxy ether acetic acid and salt thereof (B) is 0.05-1 wt% relative to the total weight of the alkyl hydroxy ether acetic acid and salt thereof (A). R1-CH(OH)-CH2-OCH2COOM1 (1) [In the formula, R1 represents a C8-12 alkyl group and M1 represents a hydrogen atom, a sodium atom, a potassium atom, or triethanolammonium.] R2-O-CH(X1)CH(X2)-OCH2COOM2 (2) [In the formula, one of X1 and X2 is a hydrogen atom and the other is a C8-12 alkyl group, R2 is a hydroxyalkyl group in which any one hydrogen atom that bonds to a carbon atom bonded to the carbon atom of position number 1 in a C10-14 alkyl group has been substituted by a hydroxyl group, the number of carbon atoms in R2 is n+2 when the number of carbon atoms in the C8-12 alkyl group represented by X1 or X2 is n, and M2 represents a hydrogen atom, a sodium atom, a potassium atom, or triethanolammonium.]
