Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a surgical assistance system which can ensure a better field of view during endoscopic surgery. This problem can be solved by a surgical assistance system, including a surgical aid that aids in the usage of a treatment tool inserted into a body cavity, the surgical aid having an imaging unit for imaging the inside of the body cavity, an image processing unit that processes an image obtained from the imaging unit, and a display unit that displays image data that has been image processed by the image processing unit, wherein: the imaging unit is provided in plurality to the surgical aid; each imaging unit performs imaging such that the inside of the body cavity is apparent; when the treatment tool is inserted into the body cavity, any imaging unit performs imaging such that the inside of the body cavity is apparent while including the treatment tool; the image processing unit generates a composite image by compositing the images obtained from the imaging units; and the image processing unit performs an occlusion removal process to remove at least a portion of images of the treatment tool.
