Description:
A SURGICAL INSTRUMENT USED FOR REMOVAL OF VARICOSE VEINS Technical Field

The invention relates to a surgical instrument which, having an tip (end part) geometry in the form of hook, cedilla etc., is used in the treatment of varicose veins occurring on the leg of the patient for various reasons.

More specifically, the present invention relates to a surgical instrument that enables both the operation and healing times to be reduced by removing the small veins (varicose pake) located under the skin in the varicose area without any incision during the treatment of the varicose veins.

Prior Art

Varicose veins are superficial blue veins that have become enlarged and twisted on the leg of people. Varicose veins occur as a result of insufficiency in the venous valves and cannot be treated with medicament.

In the varicose veins treatment, compression stockings specially designed for varicose veins are used. In this way, enlargement of varicose veins are prevented. However, since this method requires the patient to use a medicament regulating blood pressure for a long time, it is not useful for the patient and cannot be used in the treatment of advanced varicose veins.

With surgical operations, it is possible to get rid of these veins expanding under skin overtime. In the conventional treatment of advanced varicose veins, the following processes are applied: first of all, an incision is made to the related area and the vein is removed from the area, the problematic area in the vein is cut and then the vein is sutured or, the problematic vein is burned directly with a laser device. Since today’s frequently used surgical methods require anesthesia, surgical incision etc. and afterward they can cause the patient to suffer pain, the incision area to be infected and permanent scar/damage in the patient to be remain, they have many disadvantages. Since the observation time of the patient increases due to the incision applications, hospitalization period of the patient also increases. In addition, conventional treatments can cause many side effect on the patient.

In the patent document no US5758665A, a surgical instrument that allows the varicose vein to be removed out from the body by grasping it from below, is mentioned. However, the surgical instrument mentioned here is only used for varicose pakes with diameter of 0.5-1 cm such as capillary vessels. Here, the tip of the surgical instrument is more sharper and resembles a spear structure instead of hook form. Also, unlike the present invention, it is not suitable for the treatment of the large varicose veins.

As a result, the require for a surgical instrument that provides the hospitalization period of the patient to be shorten by eliminating the incision process applied in the conventional treatment method of varicose veins, has led the present innovative solution to emerge out.

Objectives and Short Description of the Invention

Aim of the invention is to present a surgical instrument which, having a tip geometry in the form of hook, cedilla etc., is used in the treatment of varicose veins occurring on the leg of the patient for various reasons.

Another aim of the invention is to present a surgical instrument that enables both the operation and healing times to be reduced by removing the small veins located under the skin in the varicose area without any incision during the treatment of the varicose veins.

Another aim of the present invention is to shorten both the operation time and healing (recovery) time by eliminating the need for incision applied in the conventional treatment methods of varicose veins.

Another aim of the present invention is to eliminate the aesthetic apprehension of the patients about having a permanent surgical scar in the relevant area by eliminating the require for applying any incision during operation.

A surgical instrument which, comprising a control body enabling the surgeon to operate remotely, an end part in which the varicose part of the vein is positioned, is developed to be used in the treatment of varicose veins, and mentioned end part is in a hook-shaped form and has a gripping gap.

In the preferred embodiment of the invention, mentioned gripping gap has a smooth transition like the lower part of U form at its bottom side while having arm structure of V form in which arms moving away from each other towards upwards at the its top side.

A preferred embodiment of the invention comprises a holding part on the control body.

In another preferred embodiment of the invention, mentioned holding part has a knurled structure. Description of the Figures

In Figure 1 , a perspective view of the present innovative surgical instrument is given.

Detailed Description of the Invention

The present invention relates to a surgical instrument (10) which, having a tip geometry in the form of hook, cedilla etc., is used in the treatment of varicose veins occurring on the leg of the patient for various reasons and enables both the operation and healing times to be reduced by removing the small veins located under the skin in the varicose area without any incision. Thanks to the present innovative surgical instrument (10), the require for incision is eliminated and thus, both the operation time and the healing time of the patient after the operation are considerably shortened. In addition, since any incision procedure is not applied during the operation, there is no permanent surgical scar in the relevant area of the patient after the operation and thus this eliminates aesthetic apprehension that patients may have.

A perspective view of the present innovative surgical instrument (10) is given in Figure 1. As seen from the figure, the present innovative surgical instrument (10) comprises

- a control body (11) which includes holding part (11.1) and enables surgeon to operate remotely and,

- an end part (12) which have a geometry in the form of hook, cedilla etc. and includes a gripping gap (12.1) in which varicose vein locates.

In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the gripping gap (12.1) is in a form that expands outwards. In terms of geometry, it has a smooth transition like the lower part of U form at its bottom side while having arm structure of V form in which arms moving away from each other towards upwards at the its top side.

In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the holding part (11.1) is in a knurled structure to prevent the surgeon to be affected from sweat or any liquid during the operation and is positioned in the middle of the control body (11). Thanks to mentioned knurled structure of the holding part (11.1), it is provided the operation to be carried out faster and more precisely by preventing the surgical instrument (10) to slip from hand during operation.

When these varicose veins which, occuring in the veins in the leg area of the patient due to reasons such as genetic predisposition, unhealthy diet, body weight index above normal etc. and appearing as blue-purple balloon-like twists located under skin, cause pain and/or aesthetically disturb the patient, the patient needs treatment and thus, the operation is performed.

During the operation, the end part (12) of the surgical instrument (10) which is controlled by the holding part (11.1) on the control body (11), can easily be entered into the varicose structure in the form of balloon that is under the skin. After the varicose area in the form of a balloon is placed inside the gripping gap (12.1) at the end part (12) of the surgical instrument (10), this damaged vascular area is taken out of the body when the surgeon pulls the instrument out. The opening that appears after the damaged area is removed, closes in minutes thanks to the body’s rapid repair. In the meantime, this area is supported with a tampon. Thus, unlike the conventional method, the varicose area can be removed from the body without requiring any incision on the body. Thanks to that any incision is not applied during the operation, it is aimed for the patient to be discharged from the hospital in a short time without staying in hospital.
