Abstract:
The objective of the present invention is to provide a surround component generator capable of generating a surround component for multichannel playback from a two-channel audio signal with minimal calculation load. Provided are: a multiplier (101, 102) for changing the amplitude of an audio input signal; a subtractor for subtracting the output of the multiplier device (101, 102) from the input signal; a coefficient updater (103, 104) for updating the coefficient of the subtractor (101, 102); a subtractor (107, 108) for generating a surround component from the input signal and the output signal of the multiplier (101, 102); an output switcher (111, 112) for switching and outputting the output signal of the subtractor (107, 108, 109); and an output switch controller (113, 114) for controlling the output switcher. The coefficient updater updates the coefficient of the multiplier according to the output of the subtractor, and the output switch controller switches the output switcher in response to the coefficient updated by the coefficient update device.
