Abstract:
A suspension system for a motor vehicle, which system detects abnormality of a roll prevention system including a hydraulic pressure circuit. In the case where hydraulic chambers of a hydraulic cylinder (30) on the front wheel side are connected to the corresponding hydraulic chambers of a hydraulic cylinder (60) on the rear wheel side through liquid passages (72), (74), respectively; when the actual hydraulic pressure is lower than the hydraulic pressure that is determined according to the lateral acceleration of a motor vehicle, it can be considered that liquid leakage has occurred. Abnormality can be detected depending on the relationship between the rolling condition of a motor vehicle and the hydraulic pressure. When solenoid open/close valves (100), (102) are brought to a close state when abnormality is detected, the two hydraulic cylinders (30), (60) are shut off. One of the hydraulic cylinders having leakage or part of the liquid passages can be shut off from the other cylinder. In the other hydraulic cylinder, a hydraulic pressure difference corresponding to the rolling condition of the motor vehicle can be produced and an elastic force can be generated in a stabilizer bar. Reduction in the roll prevention effect can be prevented more effectively in comparison with the case where both hydraulic cylinders are out of function.
