Abstract:
Provided is a syringe for injecting a drug solution into an upper skin layer, the syringe being capable of: injecting a drug solution such as a vaccine selectively to a relatively shallow site in an upper skin layer, particularly on the epidermal layer-side of the dermis layer, regardless of age differences, male-female differences, and individual differences; forming a swelling without the drug solution leaking from the skin surface; and obtaining or manifesting adequate drug efficacy in terms of ability to induce immunity, etc. even with very small amounts. The syringe (1) for injecting a drug solution in an upper skin layer is obtained from: a syringe needle (20), which is provided with a needle lumen (24) that is continuous from the needle tip (21) to the base end of the needle and which has an edge (22) on the needle tip (21); and a needle hub (30), which has a front end (31c) and a base end and holds the syringe needle (20) at the front end (31c). The needle hub (30) has a needle tip end face (31b) and the needle tip (21) projects from the needle tip end face (31b). The needle projection length (L1) of the needle tip (21) from the needle tip end face (31b) is 1.15 mm ± 0.1 mm and the edge length (L2) of the edge (22) along the shaft center of the syringe needle (20) is 0.60 mm ± 0.15 mm.
