Description:
SYSTEM FOR ADJUSTING HEIGHT OF A SLIDING WING AND METHOD FOR INSERTION OF SUCH A

WING WITHIN A COUNTERFRAME BOX

5

The present invention relates to a system for adjustment of height of a sliding door, particularly a sliding door to be inserted within a disappearing box.

10 The invention further relates to a kit for mounting a sliding wing, as well as to a mounting method of the system.

More specifically, the invention relates to a system of the above kind, permitting both height adjustment and balancing of sliding wings by adjusting only one side of the same wing.

15 As it is well known, since the first introduction of disappearing sliding wing technology, the needing existed of adjustment of wing height after having introduced the same within box. Particularly, if in traditional disappearing sliding doors it is sufficient removing covering jambs and acting on elements connecting carriages couplings and garriages, for

20 counterframes having sliding wings mounted within boxes with a wall finishing problems arise for reaching said carriages couplings.

A known solution to the above problems, which had a remarkable commercial success, is the one described and claimed in Italian Patent n° 1329977 in the nae of Scrigno. A solution is described in

25 said patent, providing couplings that can be reached from door sides and a cavity within which a removable abutment upright on the opposite box side. Thus, to reach wing side not introduced within the box it is necessary removing said abutment upright from cavity, making wing sliding beyong abytment limit, intoruding it at least partially within the cavity, acting on the

30 wing side that came outside the box, so as to adjust wing height. Mai problem of the solution according to Italian Patent n° 1329977 is that abutment upright comprised of a fixed part and of a removable part increases costs of the whole box. Further, bigger is cavity depth, much easier is adjustment, by larger are dimensions of the box, and thus of the

35 wall portion within which said box must be introduced, thus limiting lumen available for reaching the wing.

In view of the above, Applicant has realised a new solution which is a remarkable improvement with respect to known solutions, solving all the above mentioned problems, permitting adjustment of wing height by a front adjustment, i.e. only on one wing side, without the needing of introducing the door within a cavity, and thus providing abutment uprights, having a removable portion, being it possible adjusting also opposed or inner carriage from front side.

It is therefore specific object of the present invention a system for adjustment of height of a sliding door, particularly a sliding door to be inserted within a disappearing box, said box providing a guide for sliding of the door, and said door providing an upper housing, said system being characterized in that it comprises a first hanging group, or internal group, and a second hanging group, or external group, with internal and external terms being referred to the direction of the introduction of the door within the box, each group providing a carriage sliding within said guide of said box, and a support with a tilted lower surface, that can be housed, by means of a suitable housing, within said upper housing provided in said door, coupling of said sliding carriages and the relevant support being realized by a screw, acting between them along the vertical direction, and a horizontal element, accessible from outside for adjustment, and the rotation of which causes the relative motion between the relevant sliding carriage and the relevant support, and the consequent height adjustment of the door with respect to the box.

Preferably, according to the invention, said upper housing is realized within the door by milling.

Furthermore, according to the invention, each support with tilted lower surface is housed inside said upper housing realised within the door within a C-shaped guide.

Particularly, coupling between said upper housing of the door and said C-shaped guide is realized by screws.

Still according to the invention, in the C-shaped guide wherein the internal support with tilted lower surface is housed is provided with stops, limiting the movement of the support outward during the door adjustment step.

In a preferred embodiment of the system according to the invention, coupling of each carriage with the relevant support with tilted lower surface is realized by a screw facing downward, having its head provided with a threaded hole, each hanging group providing a worm screw, passing through the relevant support with tilted lower surface and screwing into the relevant screw hole, the length of each worm screw being so as to be accessible from front (external) side of the door with respect to the box, so that it is possible adjusting the height of the door by tools from the same side.

Always according to the invention, a closing element of the internal end is provided.

Still according to the invention, said internal support with tilted lower surface is provided with a slot for housing of a washer, trough which the relevant worm screw passes, so as to make the worm screw integral with the same support with tilted lower surface.

Still according to the invention, said external support with tilted lower surface is provided with a pin for external fastening, coupling within two holes, the worm screw being fastened in its position by two nuts and relevant washers.

The invention further concerns a kit for mounting a sliding door within a box, comprising a system according to the above, comprising mounting and adjusting tools for the system and the door.

It is further object of the present invention a method for the insertion of a door within a box of a counterframe, using a system as described in the above, comprising the steps of:

- preparing the door to be mounted with an upper shaped milling;

- fixing two respective C-shaped guides within said upper milling;

- preparing a first hanging group (or internal group) within a sliding guide realised within the box;

- coupling said first hanging group within the relevant C-shaped guide, and proceeding with its fastening on the door;

- making the door partially sliding within the box;

- preparing a second hanging group (or external group) in the sliding guide realised within the box;

- coupling said second hanging group within the relevant C- shaped guide, and proceeding with the relevant fastening on the door;

- adjusting the door acting from outside on both said hanging groups. Present invention will be now described, for illustrative, but not limitative purposes, according to its preferred embodiments, mwking reference to the figures of the enclosed drawings, wherein:

figure 1 is a schematic perspective view of an embodiment of the system according to the invention;

figure 2 is an exploded view of the system according to figure 1 ; figure 3 is a schematic perspective view of a first particular of the system of figure 1 ;

figure 4 is an exploded view of particular of figure 3; figure 5 is a schematic perspective view of a first particular of the system of figure 1 ;

figure 6 is an exploded view of particular of figure 5; figure 7 is a schematic perspective view of a first particular of the system of figure 1 ; and

figure 8 is an exploded view of particular of figure 7.

Observing first figures 1 and 2 of the enclosed drawings, it is shown an embodiment of the system according to the invention providing a wing 1 , provided with two suspension groups, generically indicated by references A and B, respectively inner group A and outer group B, terms inner and outer being referred to the direction of introduction within the box (not shown).

Each group A, B provides a carriage 2a, 2b, sliding on a box guide (not shown as well), and an inclined lower surface 3a, 3b, each one provided, respectively, within a C shaped guide 4a, 4b. Guide 4a has two rear abutment stops 12 with an inclined lower surface 3a.

Said C shaped guides 4a, 4b are coupled with wing 1 by screws 5, and inserted within a suitable shaped groove 20, realised along the wing 1 upper edge.

Each carriage 2a, 2b has a screw 6a, 6b faced downward, having its head 7a, 7b provided with a threaded through hole 8a, 8b. Each group A, B has a worm screw 9a, 9b, passing through the relevant support 3a, 3b having an inclined surface, screwing within relevant screw 7a, 7b hole 8a, 8b. Length of each worm screw 9a, 9b is such to be reached from front (outer) wing 1 side with respect to the box (see figure 1) so as to make adjustment of wing height 1 from the same side by tools 10.

Screw 6b further has a unthreaded a preferably slightly ovalised hole 8c, for passage of worm screw 9a. By reference number 11 it is indicated the closure element of the inner end.

Observing now also other enclosed drawings, it is observed that a slot 12a is obtained in support 3a with inclined lower surface, for housing a washer 13a, through which the relevant worm screw 9a passes. Thus, worm screw 9a is made integral with relevant support 3a with inclined lower surface. C shaped gude 4a provides two abutment elements 17, setting the stroke of said support 3a with inclined lower surface outward.

Support 3b with inclined lower surface provides an outer fixing plug 13, coupling within two holes 14. Worm screw 9b is fixed by two nuts 15 and relevant wahers 16.

Substantially, system according to the invention provides two groups A, B on which it is possible acting from same side. By rottaing worm screws 9a, 9b it is obtained by movement each other of two supports 3a, 3b with inclined lower surface and of two carriages 2a, 2b, causing ascent or descent of integral wing 1 , substantially varying distance of upper edge of the door from guide lower edge wherein said carriages 2a, 2b are housed.

Present invention has been described for illustrative, but not limitative, purposes, according to its preferred embodiments, but it si to be understood that variations and/or modifications can be introduced by those skilled in the art without departing from the relevant scope, as defined in the enclosed claims.
