Abstract:
The present invention relates to an electric car charging system comprising a bidirectional charging unit and a battery management system. The bidirectional charging unit comprises: a first communication unit configured such that, if a connecting port connector of a rapid charging facility or a slow charging facility is connected thereto, charging type information is input thereto from the rapid charging facility or the slow charting facility according to a first communication scheme; and a second communication unit for communicating with the battery management system through a communication protocol. The bidirectional charging unit determines whether same is connected to the rapid charging facility or the slow charging facility, by using the charging type information input through the first communication unit. If it is determined that same is connected to the rapid charging facility, the bidirectional charging unit provides the charging type information to the battery management system by using the second communication unit. If it is determined that same is connected to an AC rapid charging facility, the bidirectional charging unit converts AC power applied from the slow charging facility into DC power and applies the DC power to the battery management system. The battery management system manages a battery, comprises a second communication unit, and stores power applied from the rapid charging facility in the battery or stores DC slow power applied from the bidirectional charging unit in the battery, according to the charging type information provided from the bidirectional charging unit through the second communication unit.
