Abstract:
The disclosure relates to a fifth generation (5G) or sixth generation (6G) communication system for supporting a higher data transmisstion rate. The method performed by a terminal in a wireless communication system includes receiving, from a base station, an indication for indicating a skipping of monitoring a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH); transmitting, to the base station, a random access preamble; and in case that at least a part of a duration of the skipping of monitoring the PDCCH overlaps with at least a part of a duration for receiving a random access response corresponding to the random access preamble, ignoring PDCCH skipping during the the at least the part of the duration of the skipping of monitoring the PDCCH.
