A system for treating VOCs gas in an engine exhaust gas, comprising: an inlet, an outlet, and a runner between the inlet and the outlet; also an ultraviolet apparatus (4) and an exhaust gas electric field apparatus (5), the ultraviolet apparatus (4) and the exhaust gas electric field apparatus (5) being provided in sequence along the runner from the inlet to the outlet. The exhaust gas electric field apparatus (5) comprises: an electric field apparatus entry, an electric field apparatus exit, an electric field cathode (10212), and an electric field anode (10211), the electric field cathode (10212) and the electric field anode (10211) being used for generating an ionized electric field for dust removal. The present system performs dust removal using an electric field to effectively remove nanoparticles in engine exhaust gas and nanoparticles in the product in the engine exhaust gas that has been treated with UV irradiation. Also discloses is a method for treating a VOCs gas in an engine exhaust gas.
