Title:
SYSTEM FOR TRACKING PLAYING DEVICE HAVING DETECTABLE SIGNATURE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2001037945
Kind Code:
A9
Abstract:
An assembly, system and methodology for tracking a playing device (e.g., a golf ball, a tennis ball, a baseball, a football, a hockey puck, a badminton bird, a soccer ball) having a detectable signature within a play field, for improving speed and quality of play. The apparatus is tracked by active or passive means, and a display presentation is generated and displayed for a user. The invention provides for reverse-channel communication with the playing device, thus permitting the device to change physical characteristics such as center of gravity and moment of rotational inertia while in motion at the direction of the user. The invention also provides for positive identification of scoring information, even when the actual playing device may be hidden from direct view.
