Abstract:
Provided is a table information recognition system in which a document input unit receives an input document containing text and tables in order to determine the relationship between the elements that configure the tables contained in the document from the text within the document. A table structure determining unit determines table structures such as column headings and spaces in which content is listed. A table element-related text extraction unit extracts table element-related sentences from the text, said table element-related sentences being related to strings of text (table elements) within the cells of the tables. A unit for determining the relationship between table elements determines the relationship between table elements that are included in the table element-related sentences by consulting a database of rules for the determination of a conceptual structure relationship.
