Abstract:

Provided is a tactile sensor which is capable of allowing a large displacement of a contact element and detecting microscopic asperities or flexibility and the like of a surface of an object to be measured. A sensor unit (S) includes: a frame (10) including a side of a substrate (B); a contact element (20) which is disposed in parallel to the substrate (B) and arranged so that the tip is protruded from a side face of the substrate (B); a suspension (30) for supporting the contact element (20) to the frame (10); and a displacement detector (41, 42) for detecting the displacement of the contact element (20). The side face of the substrate (B) serves as a sensing surface, and the contact element (20) in contact with the object to be measured (O) is displaced within a plane parallel to the substrate (B). This allows the sensor unit (S) to be extended two-dimensionally along the substrate (B), thus providing a high degree of flexibility in structure design. As a result, it is possible to permit a large displacement of the contact element (20) and sense microscopic asperities or flexibility of a surface of the object to be measured (O).
