Abstract:
The object of the present invention is to reduce deformation of a platen roller in a tape printing device when a roller holder provided with the platen roller and side sensor is crimped by the tape cassette, the tape printing device being capable of detecting the type of tape cassette with the aid of a side sensor. Cassette detection processing (S13, S15) is performed when printing is performed by a thermal head (S16-3). With this cassette detection processing (S13, S15), the roller holder is crimped onto the tape cassette mounted in the cassette mounting unit, the type of tape cassette is detected by the side sensor, the roller holder is thereafter released from the tape cassette mounted in the cassette mounting unit, and the device is placed in a print standby state. Deformation of the platen roller can be reduced because the platen holder provided to the roller holder is not pressed into constant contact with the thermal head.
