Abstract:
A tapered roller bearing 1 equipped with an outer ring 13 having a conical raceway surface 13a on the inner circumference thereof, an inner ring 12 having a conical raceway surface 12a on the outer circumference thereof, and provided with a large flange surface 12e on the larger-diameter side of this raceway surface 12a and a small flange surface 12d on the smaller-diameter side thereof, multiple tapered rollers 14 arranged so as to be capable of rotating freely between the raceway surfaces 12a and 13a, and a retainer 15 for holding these tapered rollers 14, wherein when the bearing is in use a larger-end surface 14b of the tapered rollers 14 makes contact with and is guided by the large flange surface 12e of the inner ring 12. The tapered roller bearing is characterized in that when the set radius of curvature of the larger-end surface 14b of the tapered rollers 14 is R and the base radius of curvature from the apex O of the conical angle of the tapered rollers 14 to the large flange surface 12c of the inner ring 12 is RBASE, the ratio R/RBASE of the set radius of curvature R and the base radius of curvature RBASE is in a range of 0.75 to 0.87, and when the actual radius of curvature of the larger-end surface 14b of the tapered rollers 14 is RACTUAL, the ratio RACTUAL/R of this actual radius of curvature RACTUAL and the set radius of curvature R is 0.5 or greater.
