Abstract:
The invention relates to a telecommunication system, especially a mobile telephone system. In addition to the traditional communication channel, said system comprises a separated channel (18, 24) for communication with a server (28), so that the terminals (10) can request services, in particular telephone services, which are provided via said server. The present system is arranged such that a terminal can request information, on the availability of a terminal called or to be called, from the server prior to the call signalling, whereby the request is transmitted by means of the channel separated from the call signalling channel. For example, the channel for communication with said server has at least one channel included in the group consisting of a GPRS channel (18), a SMS channel (24), a UMTS channel and a CDMA channel.
